Are you interested in becoming a Mental Health First Aider? An MHFAider helps someone with a mental health issue like a physical first aider would. This course will teach you how to spot mental health triggers and signs and give you the confidence to reassure and support a distressed person. This includes having an initial conversation and helping the person get help. What will the training give me? • An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors affecting wellbeing • Practical skills to spot triggers and signs of a range of mental health issues • Confidence to step in, reassure, and support a person in distress using MHFA action plan • Knowledge to help someone recover by guiding them to further support, whether self-help resources, internal support like EAP, or external sources like their GP • Understanding of how to keep yourself safe while performing your duties The format: • Two-day online course with four manageable sessions. • Learning through presentations, group discussions, self-directed and workshop activities • You will be expected to do approximately 15 hours of self-study. • Each session is built around a Mental Health First Aid action plan • Class sizes limited to 16 to keep students safe and supported. • The course is led by an experienced instructor Stu Skinner, who has attended the instructor training programme accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health. • Access to a mic and camera is essential. You will get: • Three-year Mental Health First Aider certificate • A manual and the new MHFA support app • A quick reference card for the MHFA action plan Who is this for? The course teaches important life skills and how to implement Mental Health First Aid in the workplace.
